DESCRIPTION
Arnold Henry Savage-Landor was an explorer and anthropologist, often travelling throughout his life, starting by moving to Paris when he was fifteen to study. During his life he travelled to America, Japan, Korea, China, and Abyssinia. He was invitied by Queen Victoria to share his tales and drawings from his trips, and subsequently started to publish travel books accompanied with his illustrations. These include 'In the Forbidden Land', 'Tibet and Nepal', and 'The Gems of the East'.
'Across the Unknown South America' is about the expedition he made in 1911 to 1912. It's an optimistic look at the continent that he considers to be 'the coming continent of the future'.
