This product mates to itself, there are no male & female sides. At room temperature, approximately 50% of ultimate bond strength is achieved in the first 20 minutes, 90% after about 24 hours and 100% after about 72 hours.f course, as with Velcro, to ensure good a bond you must clean your surfaces with alcohol before applying Dual Lock. I find rubbing alcohol indispensable for this kind of cleanup task. Dual Lock reclosable fasteners supplied with a pressure sensitive adhesive system can be conveniently bonded to a wide variety of materials, including but not limited to the following:    Fiberglass, plastics, painted metals, bare metals, acrylic, polycarbonate, glass,  polystyrene, sealed wood, rigid vinyl, structural composites, plasticized vinyl    This useful material, especially in its self-adhesive form, is an old RVer's standby. But Velcro has a few drawbacks. It isn't very strong—you don't want to mount anything that weighs more than a few ounces with it, unless you use a lot of Velcro. And its self-stick adhesive can lose its bond in hot weather.   That's where 3M Dual Lock tape comes in. This stuff works like Velcro, but it has four times the gripping power—and its self-adhesive backing won't let go, even if the temperature soars into the triple digits. Dual Lock doesn't use hooks and loops like Velcro. Instead, tiny plastic "mushrooms" interlock with an audible snap. Unlike Velcro, any piece can mate with any other piece.   Low Profile Dual Lock it has about 700 stems per square inch, and they're short, tiny ones, so it makes a much thinner joint: two pieces add up to only about a tenth of an inch in thickness. For small, lightweight items like clocks, timers and thermometers it's ideal, and its low profile means that the item you're mounting doesn't stick out as far from the wall. Applying Dual Lock step by step To ensure a good match between the two pieces of Dual Lock (and this applies to Velcro too), here's how to proceed: Clean both surfaces with alcohol and wipe dry before you start. Lock the two pieces of Dual Lock together. Remove the backing from one piece and adhere the joined pieces to one surface. Finally, remove the other piece's backing paper and bring the two objects together. Make sure your positioning is correct—you only get one chance to do this right! This procedure guarantees perfect matching of the two Dual Lock or Velcro pieces, since they are correctly aligned from the very start. Este material trabaja como el velcro, pero tiene cuatro veces más de potencia autoadhesiva y no permitirá, aun cuando la temperatura suba, perder sus propiedades de sujección. Los "champiñones" de plástico diminutos se enclavan con un chasquido audible.   El perfil Dual Lock  tiene aproximadamente 700 ganchos  por  pulgada cuadrada, y son cortos, diminutos, y realizan una unión muy delgada:  dos piezas unidas sólo ocupan 5 mm. de espesor. Para artículos pequeños, ligeros como los relojes, cronómetros y termómetros es ideal. Aplicar Dual Lock paso a paso: Para asegurar una buena unión entre las dos piezas de Dual Lock (y esto también se aplica al velcro),  proceder así:   1. Limpie ambas superficies con alcohol y deje secar.   2. Quite el protector del adhesivo de una de las piezas y adhiera la pieza a una superficie previamente limpia. Realice la misma operación sobre el objeto que desea colocar.  ¡Asegúrese de la posición, solo tiene una oportunidad para hacer este movimiento!  Espere un tiempo prudencial, siguiendo las recomendaciones indicadas al principio, antes de colocar el objeto y unir las 2 piezas de Dual Lock.
