In India the flowers of Jasminum Sambac are said to be sacred to Vishnu, the god that protects against evil. The intense fragrance of the Arabian Jasmine is a definite scent of the tropics.
In the UK Sambac can be grown in a frost free conservatory or greenhouse against a wall or allowed to climb. In summer requires semi-shade.
In the growing season, apply a low-nitrogen fertiliser monthly. Water sparingly in winter.
Is e vergreen.
Jasmine tea comes from these flowers as does the oil used in perfumes.
