Colour does not matter, but please check that this one looks like yours before buying (there are several different styles in use). If you are replacing a blue unit, then on your plug, snip off the small protruding piece and flick off the black end cap. Please note these vehicles have a known issue which causes the Blower Resistor to not work on speeds 1-3. Also the connector may burn up, resulting in no blower at all, or intermittent operation: If the windscreen scuttle is loose or damaged, water will find its way into the blower motor and cause its bearings to seize up. This results in excessive current draw, causing the Resistor Pack thermal fuse to blow, resulting in no speeds 1-3. A blocked pollen filter or inlet blocked with leaves etc. will contribute also.
How do I know if my Resistor is faulty....?
The usual symptom are: * The blower runs on the maximum setting only (No speeds 1-3, resistor blown). * No blower at all (Connector burnt out) * Burning smell (Connector and wiring burning out)
Why did it fail? Excessive current draw because of: * Bad blower motor (caused by water leak via scuttle) *Blocked pollen filter. * Blocked air inlet. Resistors do not fail without reason. Please ensure you find & fix the root cause to save unnecessary returns.
