DMC Cordonette Special is a line of high quality crochet cotton made by DMC in France. It is a highly mercerized 100% cotton thread, made of 6 glossy non-divisible strands.  In addition to crochet, it is also excellent for tatting, pulled thread, openwork lace work, and more. IMPORTANT: This thread only comes in white and ecru.  The white is the DMC "blanc", which is not the same as the newer color "B5200".  When placed side by side, blanc looks to be more of a creamy white than true-white.  This thread is NOT available in B5200. For more color selection, try the size 80 tatting cotton (Fil a Dentelle), in the current and discontinued colors , the DMC Cebelia crochet cotton in sizes 10, 20 and 30, or some alternative colors in the Lizbeth tatting cotton in size 20, 40 or 80.  For higher gloss, try the size 12 pearl cotton with their name sake pearly sheen. All sizes are put up in a 20 gram ball.  The approximate yardage for each sizes are:
  • #30 - 208 yards
  • #40 - 241 yards
  • #50 - 284 yards
  • #60 - 317 yards
  • #70 - 350 yards
  • #80 - 394 yards
  • #100 - 470 yards
